Jeffrey Michelson, principle creative director at Blue Mountain Marketing, is a journalist, media wizard, former Apple Records advertising designer, and former magazine editor. Two geniuses shaped Jeffrey’s life. In 1967, he was houseboy and sparring partner to Norman Mailer and they remained close friends. In 1970, John Lennon chose Jeffrey’s ad campaign for his album “Imagine” and asked Jeffrey to design Apple Records’ media.

In the early 80s Michelson met John Lotte and the two have worked together creatively ever since. For several years Lotte was lead book designer with Rodale Inc’s award-winning direct mail marketing team, designing dozens of covers and books targeting Rodale book customers. He also designed cookbook, garden and farm titles for Rodale’s Home & Garden Books and Rodale’s New Farm magazine.

bragging rights

Jeffrey worked with two of his best friends, Michael Gross, design director of The National Lampoon, and later Executive Producer for Ghostbusters, Twins, Heavy Metal and 8 other Ivan Reitman movies, and rock'n'roll photographer Ron Raffaelli to help create HOT ROCKS for the Rolling Stones. The next year Jeffrey and Michael worked with John & Yoko to do the cover for SOMETIME IN NEW YORK CITY.

Fresh out of Cooper Union School of Art, John Lotte scored big for his first ever book project — a collaboration with former Harper’s Bazaar art director Marvin Israel on the iconic dust jacket of Diane Arbus: An Aperture Monograph, universally acknowledged as a photobook classic, a timeless masterpiece with editions in five languages, and the foundation of her international reputation.
